A fire broke out in a duplex early Saturday morning in the 3700 block of Northwest Parkway in University Park that resulted in the death of an 18-year-old man. A neighbor called in the fire at 2 a.m.

The Park Cities and Dallas fire departments arrived at the scene to heavy smoke, but they quickly got the fire under control, said Steve Mace, the community information officer for University Park. An 18-year-old man was found in a bedroom, and he was administered CPR then taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where it was pronounced that he had died.

The name of the victim has not been released, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Update: The victim's name is James Harrison, and the kitchen of residence is where the fire started.
