Dallas International School Observes Anti-Bullying Day

On Friday 13 November, Dallas International School observed Anti-Bullying Day. Students incorporated the color blue into their usual uniforms in order to display their solidarity with this initiative. On the Lower School campus, Kelley Loyd, the school counselor, visited classes to share a meaningful message that focused on concepts like: friendship, being an “upstander” rather than a bystander and indirect bullying. During each lesson, each student was able to make an individual card or sign to put up around the school as a symbol of their joint effort to help eliminate bullying at DIS.

At the Upper School Campus, counselor Maribel Perry provided daily announcements about what bullying entails, why it happens and how to prevent it. Teachers then held brief discussions with their students after the announcements. During lunch, students had the opportunity to sign a pledge banner to show their support.
