Football players rush the field for the game.

On October 8, Providence Christian School students started and ended the day on the new athletic field. In the morning, the student body dedicated the new field with prayer; that evening the football team played A+ Academy resulting in a 14-14 tie.

The afternoon included a sports pep rally featuring all the fall sports teams: football, girls’ volleyball, and girls’ and boys’ cross country. Coaches announced players’ names and told about their teams, while students and teachers cheered. Led by parents, Brenda Teele and Tara Bozman, the Spirit Squad performed a cheer and a routine to get everyone in the homecoming spirit. Next, three sets of siblings—the Pous, the Peteries, and the Heflins—ran an obstacle course in hopes of winning a day of fun for the younger sibling’s class. In the end, the Heflins won. Another highlight included Providence graduate, Armstrong Simms, who brought the Highland Park High School Drum Line to perform at the rally amidst cheering and hand clapping.

The evening’s festivities included a hamburger meal, snow cones, and concessions. While children played, families enjoyed visiting, watching the game, and enjoying being outdoors. A special thanks to Providence Homecoming Co-chairs, Susan Harvey and Laura Thomason.
