The Greyhound Adoption League of Texas (GALT) continues its mission of “No Grey Turned Away” with its largest charity fundraiser of the year.  On Saturday, February 25 (6pm) retired athletes and sports personalities convene for the annual Greyt Retired Athletes Dinner and Auction at the popular III Forks restaurant.

Sports anchor Brady Tinker emcees the event which features interviews with sports celebrities, dinner, live and silent auctions.  Special guest this year is professional basketball player, Nancy Lieberman aka "Lady Magic”.  Ms. Lieberman is currently the assistant coach to the Sacramento Kings and has extensive accomplishments to her credit including Basketball Hall of Fame and two-time Olympian.  Longtime friend of GALT, Burton Gilliam of Blazing Saddles fame will also attend.

To date, GALT has assisted more than 2,800 greyhounds and sight hounds in finding their forever homes since the organization’s inception in 2001.  Depending solely on donations for its operation budget, costs exceed $330,000 per year.

$150 per person includes a seated three-course dinner with choice of III Fork’s famous chateaubriand, salmon or vegetarian offerings.  Two beer/cocktail tickets are included with a cash bar available and complimentary wine service throughout the evening. Seating is limited.   For more information go to www.galtx.org or call 972-503-GALT.  III Forks is located at 17776 Dallas Parkway.  Reception begins at 6:00pm with dinner at 7:00pm.

GALT is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit all-volunteer group dedicated to placing all greyhounds, primarily those that competed and trained for racing, and sight hounds into loving homes.  GALT facilitates the adoption of greyhounds by providing kennel services and foster homes along with their medical needs, including spay and neuter, assisting them in the transition from track-life to home-life, and educating the public about why the greyhound has been a favored companion dog for more than 4,000 years.  To learn more about GALT go to www.GALTX.org.
