The 12th Annual Heart of Gold 5K & Fun Run – chaired by Kelli Chabria and Kristi Nicholson– benefits Heroes for Children’s mission to advocate for and provide financial and social assistance to families with children (0 – 22 years of age) battling cancer. Heroes for Children recognizes National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – in September – by bringing Richardson and its surrounding communities together for a family-friendly event honoring the hearts of children fighting cancer.
The 5K will open with a commemorative balloon release led by co-founders Jenny Dowen and Larissa Linton, followed by the Fun Run & 5K. The Fun Run & 5K are open to participants of all ages. Entertainment will include a DJ and children’s Adventure Zone featuring games, activities, bounce houses, rock climbing wall and a special area to honor and remember children who have been affected by cancer. The Heart of Gold 5K & Fun Run also promises prizes, awards, giveaways and food. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at The Plaza at Galatyn Park, located at 2301 Performance Drive, Richardson, TX 75080
Registration:
- Virtual Runner available for $25 for those unable to attend the event but who want a t-shirt
- Run for Free available for participants who raise $150 or more through personal fundraising
- Adult registration of $25 for ages 15 and up until Sept. 20, cost is $30 after that and will be $35 the day of the event
- Child registration of $15 for ages 14 and under until Sept. 20, cost is $20 after that and will be $25 the day of the event
