Dallas United Crew Attends US Rowing Championships

Members of the Dallas United Crew High School Rowing Team attended the US Rowing Club National Championships in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on July 19-20 with great performances

Under Coach Randy Dam, the Men’s Junior 8+ boat placed 4th in the Grand Final against tough competition. Additionally, the DUC Men’s Intermediate 8+ and Men’s Junior 4+ had strong showings in their events.

After finishing their regular season, the DUC rowers trained for an additional six weeks before traveling and racing at Nationals. It wasn't until two weeks before race time that the team finalized their full lineup.

Coach Randy had a great training schedule to get the teams in good racing form.

The workouts consisted of 2x/day training Monday-Saturday with morning water sessions  from 6am-8am. The water sessions were geared for technical training and focused on body control, rhythm building and improving overall boat moving mechanics. Evening practices were an additional three hours at CrossFit Lake Highlands where the rowers buckled down and did their indoor physical work. A special thank you to Sara Corey and David Corey for helping the team with their training.

The national rowing community is paying attention to Dallas United Crew’s rowing program with these great performances. The DUC Men’s 8+  beat out every United States Junior High Performance Team boat and even an official United States U23 High Performance Team boat.  The High Performance Team juniors are just a step away from being selected to try out for the U.S. Junior National Team, and the U23 High Performance Team is a step away from being selected to try out for the United States U23 National Team.

Congratulations to these DUC rowers and Coach Randy! WAY TO GO, DUC!!
