Dallas United Crew Youth Women’s 8+ Competes At The 2014 Head Of The Charles Regatta

Nine young women – eight rowers and their coxswain – all members of Dallas United Crew, competed last weekend at The Head of the Charles regatta in Boston, Massachusetts.  The Head of the Charles is the largest two-day regatta in the world, and Dallas United Crew was honored to be a part of this year's race.  It is the 50th anniversary of the regatta on the Charles River, which cuts through the heart of Boston.

At last weekend's regatta, over 2,000 boats raced, including Olympic rowers, and several course records were set.  DUC competed in the Women's Youth 8+ against crews from across the US as well as other countries.  It was DUC's first time to compete at the Head of the Charles, and the women’s crew had a strong showing to respectably represent their team, their schools, and the city of Dallas at this prestigious competition.

Congratulations to the Women's 8+ crew:  Lauren Blonien (Bishop Lynch), Lauren Hansford (HPHS), Alice Maguire (Bishop Lynch), Cecilia Manganello (Hockaday), Catherine Miller (Bishop Lynch), Adelaide Moore (Ursuline), Olivia Osbourn (Ursuline), Sydney Patton (HPHS), and Lauren Pelfrey (HPHS), as well as Coach Jonathan Stevens and Coach Randy Dam.

Dallas United Crew looks forward to more crews racing at the Head of the Charles in the future.
