Notre Dame students before performance

On November 1st, friends and supporters of Notre Dame School of Dallas gathered at the Anatole Hotel for the school’s annual gala “An Affair of the Heart – Summertime in Nantucket”.  The event was chaired by Shannon Tyler and honored long-time supporters, Mitch and Cindy Bell for their dedication and support of Notre Dame School.

“This event is always a highlight of our year as we gather with so many supporters who have contributed to our school for many, many years.  It is also a critical event as we depend on the proceeds for our school’s operating budget,” stated Theresa Francis, principal of Notre Dame School.

The leading sponsor of the event was retailer Tuesday Morning who contributed over $34,000 of merchandise for the Silent Auction.  Highlights of the live auction included trips to the Plaza Hotel in New York, DisneyWorld family vacation, and a dove hunting trip in Argentina.   But the big winners of the event are the students at Notre Dame School of Dallas who received over $200,000 in scholarships donated by the gala’s guests.

“We serve a wide range of students of various economic backgrounds.  Many of our students cannot afford our tuition, so we are dependent on benefactors for scholarships,” explained Francis.

Notre Dame School educates students with intellectual disabilities and facilitates their integration into society.  As the only school exclusively serving this student population, Notre Dame is a unique educational resource in our city and provides special education to 155 students ages 8 to 22.  Notre Dame School is located in Uptown, just north of downtown Dallas.   www.notredameschool.org
