Velvet Taco, the trendsetting, elevated taco concept serving up globally inspired tacos, opens its tenth Texas location in Richardson near the corner of N. Central Expressway and W. Campbell Road today, Dec. 14.

To celebrate, Velvet Taco is partnering with Richardson West Arts & Technology Magnet School to give students the opportunity to further their photography skills and amp up their portfolios by taking on-location photos of the new restaurant that will be shared on Velvet Taco’s social media and in future advertising campaigns.

“Richardson is one of Dallas’ fastest growing communities, and we want to be an integral part of this area no matter the occasion,” said Clay Dover, Velvet Taco’s chief executive officer and taco maker. “We look forward to becoming a neighborhood go-to, whether as the go-to stop for tacos after a Friday night football game, or for a slice of red velvet cake and ‘kick-ass’ margaritas on a night out with friends.”

The 2,922 square-foot dining room features bright and rustic furnishings with indoor seating for more than 90 and a covered patio that seats more than 30, featuring Velvet Taco’s first-ever functional garage door for open-air dining. In accordance with state regulations, the restaurant will open at 50% capacity for indoor and outdoor dining. Guests can also order ahead and pick up through Velvet Taco’s drive-thru window or step inside to pick up their order for convenient service.

The lively, bustling space will feature one-of-a-kind, hand-painted murals, paying homage to the space’s origins as a gas and tire shop with a retro Richardson background. Additionally, the space features Velvet Taco’s signature larger-than-life painting of Marie Antionette eating red velvet cake.

Incorporating the freshest and finest quality ingredients, the chef-inspired concept offers a broad sampling of over 20 taco varieties on its innovative menu, as well as creative sides and homemade red velvet cake. Chefs prepare everything from scratch – from slow-roasted rotisserie chicken to house-made pickles. Guests can enjoy beverages like local and Mexican beer, fruit-infused iced teas and the signature, must-have Kick Ass Margarita, as well as seasonal margaritas.

Dallas-based Velvet Taco was created in 2011 and has since expanded to 9 locations in the Dallas area and 17 across the United States.
