Art of Caring for Others Highlights Work of Park Cities Charity Health Clinic

Christ’s Family Clinic’s Art of Caring for Others Charity Wine Dinner and Art Auction was held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 beginning with a VIP Cocktail Reception at 6:30 p.m. and continued with fun and fellowship through 10:00 p.m. The sophisticated evening included a champagne reception, four-course dinner elegantly paired with wine at each course, raffle and silent art auction. The evening and auction benefited Christ’s Family Clinic who serves more than 1,200 uninsured patients living and working in and near the Park Cities.

Guests were greeted with passed bubbly and savory hors d’oeuvres as they made their way to the Dallas Country Club’s Ballroom. During cocktail hour, elegantly clad ladies and gentlemen nibbled and sipped, snapped pics and enjoyed a gallery filled with more than 50 pieces of astounding art.

Each beautifully appointed table was graced with gorgeous fall colored floral centerpieces from Petals and Stems and the enchanting dinner included an appetizer of crab cakes with roasted corn puree paired with Sonoma Cutrer Russian River Ranches Chardonnay; field greens with sundried fruit and candied pecans paired with Bravium Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley; filet mignon with a cabernet demi-glace paired with Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley; and a chocolate cake with sea salt caramel crème brûlée paired with Fonseca Bin 27 Ruby Port, Portugal.

Jennifer Clubb, Chief Executive Officer and Steven Bradford, Board Chair, were emcees for the evening, welcoming guests with a platform of the importance of Christ’s Family Clinic being a much needed health safety-net ensuring every member of our community, especially those without health insurance, remains healthy so they may continue to be productive and provide for their families. Mr. Bradford thanked the staff, volunteers, and sponsors and introduced Dr. George Williams, President of Methodist Medical Group and Senior Vice President for Physician Services, who spoke about Methodist’s footprint in the community, urgent and family care centers, and Methodist’s partnership with Christ’s Family Clinic.

Patrons were invited to participate in the raffle and silent auction for chances to win prizes and take home a one-of-a-kind piece of art. The crowd was abuzz at the choices of raffle prizes including a chance to win a private dinner for ten expertly prepared by Chef Francesco Farris of Dallas’ Zio Cecio, hosted by Scott and Heather Alexander of University Park at their beautifully appointed greenhouse on the grounds of their home. The silent auction included art submitted by local artists including original paintings, photography, sculpture, pottery and jewelry. Competition was fierce at the 50+ item auction, which featured work by renowned artists such as Angela Mia de La Vega, Gail Turner, Larry Whiteley, Julie Kate Ferrell, John Carlisle Moore, and highlighting many pieces by celebrated South African painter Marlena Horak.
