Dallas United Crew's Varsity Men Stand Tall on International Stage

Dallas United Crew (DUC) Varsity Men raced in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta on Oct 22 in Cambridge, MA. The Head Of The Charles Regatta is the world’s largest two-day rowing event. More than 11,000 athletes from around the world compete in 55 different race events. Boats compete against one another and the clock, which starts sequentially, approximately fifteen seconds apart.

DUC Varsity Men's 8 crew placed 21st out of 85 crews from around the country and the world. “This year’s crew was young with only two seniors and six underclassmen – four juniors, one sophomore and one freshmen,” says Program Director Steve Perry. “Five of these rowers and our coxswain raced in this event for their first time. This race is known for it's winding course, bridges and treacherous turns. It’s a testament to the crew and our coxswain Ava Craycroft, a sophomore, to have navigated skillfully through this challenging course. ” says Perry.   Dallas United Crew continues to gain attention on the international stage moving up in the standings for the last three years.  DUC's Men's Varsity boat earned their invitation to race again in 2018, an impressive accomplishment for these young athletes.

Congratulations to DUC’s Men’s Varsity 8 representing six Dallas high schools: Anders Ekstrom, Kristoff Csaky, Nik Knapp, Anson Smith, Ben Genender, Eric Martin, Hunter Adams, Anthony Wang and coxswain Ava Craycroft.
