On Saturday, August 25 new and prospective members met and mingled with Temple Shalom Board Members, Committee Chairs and Clergy. This year’s Open House took on a new twist. Instead of the usual brunch, our guests and congregants joined together for a Havdalah Service. Everyone enjoyed appetizers/desserts provided by Catering by Larry, toured the building and learned about all the wonderful programs Temple Shalom offers.

“On Shabbat afternoon, we joined together to welcome in so many into our Temple, to share with them the beauty of our space and the warmth of our friendship.  New members and those seeking to join the Temple Shalom family shared the ritual of Havdalah, ending the Shabbat day and welcoming in the new week with laughter, with song and great food!  It was awesome to see all those whose lives will now be filled with even more Shalom!  We look forward to welcoming you and yours as we begin this New Year!” exclaimed Rabbi Andrew Paley.

Perhaps the highlight of the evening was watching the kids of all ages make new friends, give tours of their favorite parts of the building and help their new friends feel right at home. It truly was a fantastic evening--the energy and excitement were contagious! With the High Holy Days and religious school just around the corner, there’s never been a better time to join Temple Shalom!
