Conflicts with the Arabs. Two state solution or one state solution? Effect of moving the embassy. Cooperation between Jews and non-Jews regarding Israel. The West Bank. Syrian drones. BDS. A democratic Jewish state or a Jewish democratic state? Iranian nukes. Technology. Economic dynamo.
Sometimes it seems learning about Israel, its challenges and its opportunities, can almost seem overwhelming. The Israel Today Community Symposium returns for its third year on Sunday, August 12, from 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM to provide answers. Temple Shalom in Dallas again hosts the Symposium. The unflinching support from AIPAC, AJC, Bnai Zion, DATA, Hadassah, Hillel, Development Corporation for Israel/ Israel Bonds, JCC Dallas, JCRC, Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, Southwest Jewish Congress, Stand with Us, Texas-Israel Chamber of Commerce, and Congregations Adat Chaverim, Anshai Torah, Beth Torah, Nishmat Am, Shearith Israel, Temple Emanu-El, Temple Shalom, and Tiferet Israel, and others too numerous to list, helps make it possible. Widely known and knowledgeable speakers from Israel, Canada, and from numerous forums throughout the United States stimulate discussions on all these topics. And, all of this for a registration fee of only $18 (including a kosher lunch, snacks and drinks through out the day).
By the time the Symposium ends on Sunday the 12th, you’ll have a clearer understanding of why Israel is the object of admiration by so many, while still facing daily diplomatic and security challenges. “Israel is a complex subject,” said Ken Glaser, founder of the Symposium and its driving force. “This is the best way we’ve found to present information to people who seek knowledge about the modern State of Israel-past, present and future.” The remarks by keynote speakers and the enlightening breakout sessions will challenge you to think and to see Israel in a way you haven’t before. Just ask the more than 500 who registered and attended last year.
People of extraordinary intellect often speak of “compartmentalizing” to avoid overlap in issue analysis. The Symposium helps you do that vis-a-vis Israel by providing thoughtful discussion on topics such as the Arab-Israel conflict, history of U.S./Israeli relations, Israeli missile defense, Israeli cyber security, Israeli energy exploration and desalinization technology, combating anti-Israel BDS activity, why Israel is so important to non-Jews. We’re refreshing the agenda to include an updated look at Historical Events, Support from Pro-Israel Non-Jewish Communities and Israel’s Contributions to the World. And it’s not just talk. Exhibitors from local and international Israel advocacy organizations will be on hand to showcase Israel’s amazing progress in technology and self-sufficiency.
It’s a day of inspiration, of discovery, and of renewing passion for the Jewish homeland. Don’t miss it!
