Salum Restaurant and the Aging Mind Foundation are teaming up to raise funds for research in hopes of finding the cause, thus, ultimately a cure, for Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The event kicks off 12:30 p.m. on September 23 with cocktails, martinis, and hors d’oeuvres at Salum Restaurant, 4152 Cole Avenue in Dallas.

“We are committed to funding research on Alzheimer’s and dementia with the leading researchers in the country,” said Laree Hulshoff, co-founder of Aging Mind Foundation.  “Minds Around Martinis is a one-of-a-kind event bringing awareness to our city on how research is so important to finding the cause of the dementias.”

Guests will enjoy the distinguished food and drinks by Chef and Owner, Abraham Salum. The extraordinary menu includes a charcuterie platter with salami, chorizo, prosciutto, cornichons and toast points; ginger and lemongrass chicken; Asian meatballs with slaw and spicy gochujang sauce; roast beef sandwiches with melted manchego and a rosemary roasted garlic aioli with a few extra surprises.

“Bringing awareness to Alzheimer’s is a passion of mine,” said Abraham Salum, Chef and Owner of Salum Restaurant.  “My mother, Leticia, is currently battling Alzheimer’s. Finding the cause of this disease is essential, as it affects so many of us each day.”

To accompany the splendid cuisine, guests will enjoy ROXOR, an exquisite artisan, beautifully balanced gin distilled in Dallas. Martinis will include the “ROXOR Classic Martini” and “The ROXY”, a lighter cocktail that demonstrates a unique balance of sweet, sour, salty and bitter flavor.

Tickets for Minds Around Martinis are limited and available at agingmindfoundation.org/other-events/

Since the founding in 2013, the Aging Mind Foundation has raised more than $2 million to fund high-quality brain research in the North Texas area. Alzheimer’s disease is the fifth leading cause of death for those 65 and older, and one of the most expensive diseases in the nation. There is currently no way to prevent, cure or even slow its progression. Aging Mind Foundation is dedicated to supporting research designed to find the cause of the dementias.
