DALLAS BONE BASH THRILLS, CHILLS AND RAISES FUNDS BENEFITTING NORTH TEXANS WITH ARTHRITIS
The Arthritis Foundation scared up supporters for an elegant Bone Bash Gala Thank You Party hosted by Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams in the fashionable Knox-Henderson area to celebrate the success of the annual Halloween soiree on Nov. 15. Ryan Gummer, Arthritis Foundation North Texas Board Chair, announced to an enthusiastic crowd that the Bone Bash raised an impressive $214,000 this year. The 7th Annual Bone Bash, presented by the W.B. Carrell Memorial Clinic, generates support for of the Arthritis Foundation and the nearly 1.8 million North Texans who suffer from the pain of arthritis.
Many of the attendees at the Bone Bash Thank You Party recalled the “bootiful” gala at The Fairmont Dallas Hotel where 500 costumed revelers enjoyed a lively evening of dining and dancing Oct. 27. Co-chaired by Drs. Buz Burkhead, Paul Peters and Kurt Rathjen, Bone Bash proceeds provide funding to conduct research to find a cure, provide public health/educational programs for those who have arthritis, and continue the Foundation’s advocacy efforts throughout North Texas.
No respectable fright feté would be complete without costumed chic attendees. Taking top honors in the costume contest were: Dr. and Mrs. David Karp for Best Costume for their clever King Arthur and “itis.” The whimsical Loofa Girls Vanessa Diosdado, Claire and Katy Roberts took the Most Original award. Dr. Bo Frederick, as Snow White and his band of merry dwarfs, won Funniest Costume. Award for the scariest went to the Walking Dead Duo Mr. and Mrs. Michael Schornstein. The honor for Best Couple went to Dr. Amy and Mr. Travis Ripley as Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln.
During the Bone Bash, ghoulish characters adorned the hallways as fortune tellers, palm readers, a spook-tacular graveyard, dinner, and dancing prevailed. Seen lurking in the crowd were: Emcee Mike Doocy, Fox Sports Anchor and his wife Ruth, Dr. Dan Cooper, Sharon and Paul Devereux, Michelle and Ryan Gummer, Clair and Bill Hyde, Leslie and Dr. Kurt Kitziger, Alison and Richard Moore, Dr. and Mrs. Mark Muller, and Dr. Kevan Wong and Paul Rook.
“The pain of arthritis is unacceptable and it affects 50 million Americans or one in five people in the U.S.,” said Susan Carter, President and CEO, Arthritis Foundation South Central Region. “That includes more than 1.8 million North Texans and more than 11,000 North Texas Children. The Arthritis Foundation is committed to raising awareness and reducing the unacceptable impact of this serious and painful disease, which can severely damage joints and rob people of living life to its fullest,” she said.
