Aging Mind Foundation co-founder Laree Hulshoff with Brews, Bites and Brain Research co-chairs Ashley Tatum (L) and Carey Moen (R).

Katy Trail Ice House and Aging Mind Foundation teamed up for the second year to raise funds for brain research, in hopes of finding a cause for Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The casual to-do kicked off at 6:00 p.m. on November 7 with barbecue, music, beer, and cocktails at Katy Trail Ice House in Dallas.

“We are committed to finding the cause for Alzheimer’s and other dementias,” said Laree Hulshoff, co-founder of Aging Mind Foundation.  “Katy Trail Ice House is a great partner with us for Brews, Bites and Brain Research and each year the event grows. We are working hard to bring awareness to our community on the importance of finding the cause of the dementias.”

Co-Chairs for the Brews, Bites and Brain Research event included Aging Mind board members, Ashley Tatum, and Carey Moen. Sponsors for the event included Katy Trail Ice House, Tatum Art Advisory, Newt Walker Company, Morgan Stanley, Benchmark Bank, Billor McDowell, and PaperCity.

Aging Mind Foundation hosts several events throughout the year to raise funds and awareness for dementia research. This includes the 5th Annual Aging Mind Foundation Gala, March 23, 2019, at The Joule. Aging Mind Foundation has raised more than $2 million to fund high-quality research since it was founded in 2013. Alzheimer’s disease is the fifth leading cause of death for those sixty-five and older and one of the most expensive and devastating diseases in the nation. There is currently no way to prevent, cure, or even slow its progression.
