The St. John's Cross Country team competed in the first meet of the Luke's Locker Middle School Race series at Norbuck Park on September 25. Eighth grader Elise Welch and sixth grader Sophie Andersson led the team with strong second-place finishes. Andersson competed in the seventh-grade-and-under division. Running in that same division, new team member, fifth grader Emma Fitzgerald placed third. In the boys’ division, fifth grader Jack DeGroot led teammates with a fourth-place finish, and sixth grader Braydon Gianguilio finished tenth in the seventh-grade race. All St. John’s team members posted personal bests, as the pre-season training paid off. Twenty metroplex schools participated in the Luke's Locker meet.
