Hockaday Varisty Quad Sept 27 2014 The Hockaday Varsity Quad Wins gold at Head of the Brazos on September 27, 2014.

The Hockaday Crew team kicked off the fall season with agold medals in three key events at the Head of the Brazos Regatta in Waco on September 27. In the quad events, both the Varsity and Novice crews won gold. The Varsity boat was comprised of Manisha Ratakonda, Calire Noble, Darcy Malican and Luda Grigoryeva and the Novice was Teal Cohen, Abigail Spencer, Joy Nesbitt, and Amy Jia. The Varsity double of Elizabeth Michel and Emma Winson also won gold, with Claire Noble and Darcy placing 5th.

"This is a great start for the fall racing season," said Tim McAllister, Director of Rowing. "The girls showed great heart over the 5,000 meter, or three-mile course." Much like cross country running, fall crew consists of longer race courses than the spring racing season.

The team also placed well in the single events, with Emma Winson placing 3rd and Manisha Ratakonda placing 4th in the Varsity race. Joy Nesbitt placed 2nd and Teal Cohen placed 3rd in the Novice event. 

The next stop is Head of the Oklahoma in Oklahoma City October 4-5 followed by Head of the Colorado in Austin October 25.
