Cheerleaders prepare lunch at shelter
While school ended on May 29, Shelton Varsity Cheerleaders did not go on vacation. They started their summer on June 5 with a bus trip to the Austin Street Shelter in downtown Dallas, where they served lunch to some 35 homeless citizens.
The cheer team prepared the lunch of sandwiches, fruit, snacks and cookies. After serving the lunch, the girls received a tour from “Miss Lottie” at the center.
Says Shelton cheer sponsor Debbie Brooke, “This was a great opportunity for our cheer team to truly offer some cheer to others in need.” Kate Borders, a Shelton parent, coordinated the event for the group of 17 cheerleaders.
