Pollak with Perspectives magazine
Shelton School eighth-grader Maddy Pollak is the featured artist whose painting, Crying Window, was selected for the cover of the International Dyslexia Association’s (IDA) Perspectives spring magazine. IDA is a non-profit, scientific and educational organization dedicated exclusively to the study and treatment of the specific language disability known as dyslexia.
Pollak’s design of the human eyeball fit appropriately with the publications theme, Focus on Reading Comprehension. Her painting was selected from all Shelton artist entries and then submitted to IDA. Shelton art instructor Sherry Houpt says of Maddy, “This is an impressive honor, considering that IDA is an international organization. I’m always proud to see the talents of our students recognized beyond our campus.”
Pollack says she will continue to focus on art as she enters high school.
