Solender/Hall announced that it has completed a purchase for Mi Escuelita Preschool at 10210 Webb Chapel Road, Dallas, from Grace Presbytery at an undisclosed price. The property was the former Chapel Hills Presbyterian Church, which was rented to a few other congregations. The four-acre property was recently rezoned with a Special Use Permit so that the school can eventually build a new headquarters and facilities for up to 200 students. The surrounding North Dallas neighborhoods include Sparkman, Joe’s Creek, Webb Royal and Chapel Downs.
Mi Escuelita Preschool provides early childhood education to low income at-risk children in the Dallas area in five locations throughout Dallas. It is one of a handful of preschools in Dallas that has its national accreditation through the prestigious National Association for the Education of Young Children. Serving children from ages 2 years old to 5 years old, Mi Escuelita teaches English to children from all cultures and prepares them for academic success.
In 2014, Mi Escuelita and its consultants worked with the neighborhoods to ask for their input on the school and work out most issues that the neighbors had. In the end, the neighbors supported the preschool. One neighbor said in his letter of support, “This preschool would be an asset to our neighborhood, and I ask that you APPROVE and vote in FAVOR of it.” Baldwin Associates handled the zoning; The Coulter Group handled the public meetings and communications; and Solender/Hall handled the transaction.
“This property is perfect for Mi Escuelita because of its strategic location near neighborhoods with many young families looking for a top-notch preschool education for their children,” said Eliza Solender of Solender/Hall.
Gayle Nave, Mi Escuelita executive director, said, “ The new space allows us to serve more children and create/improve our collaborations with our educational partners such as Head Start of Greater Dallas and Uplift. The location will be home to a truly blended program that will allow parents to choose which educational program best meets the needs of their family, whether it be Head Start, a college-preparatory charter school or a private program with extended hours. The space will also allow us to have the space to conduct training for our staff and house our administrative team.”
Mi Escuelita plans to offer classes at this location starting with the fall 2015 school year. For information about Mi Escuelita and enrollment, visit http://miescuelita.org/.
