It has been said that a family that “boats together stays together.” That sentiment has been evidenced over the past three generations by the family behind Fort Worth’s North Texas Marine.

Since the 1954 founding of North Texas Marine in Gainesville by Richard F. Wallace, the business of boating has been Wallace family tradition, passed from one generation to another. Part of that plan included the expansion to Fort Worth in 2001. Boating has served not only as a business for the Wallaces to serve boaters across North Texas and Southern Oklahoma, but also as a way to keep the family ties strong.

Brad Wallace, grandson of Richard F. Wallace, recalls, “My brother and I grew up going to the lake most every weekend during the summer with our family. Whether it was to go fishing, skiing, tubing or just enjoying time in the sun, we were on the lake together as a family. The great part about boating as a family is that it’s enjoyable for parents and children of all ages.  Even independent teenagers can't resist the draw of heading out to the lake with their family.”

Bron Beal, executive Director of Fort Worth Boat Expo, says, “It is well-known that recreational boating gets people out of the house. Boating helps create a sense of community on the water. It promotes family fun time, forms bonds and creates memories that can be shared across generations.”

He continues, “There are numerous activities associated with boating (fishing, water skiing), skills that can be learned (knot tying, driving) and responsibilities involved (safety, mechanics). The Fort Worth Boat Expo is the place this spring to find out more about what’s happening on our 42 area lakes.”

The Expo will have hundreds of all new 2016 boat and watercraft models on display including the most elite bands of luxury pontoons, jet boats and sport boats in the industry. These boats are available for purchase from over 20 North Texas boat dealers.

Local Dealers include:

  • North Texas Marine: Fort Worth
