Former Governor and Director of Homeland Security Tom Ridge Headlines Benefit

Former Governor and the first Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Tom Ridge headlines an all-star discussion panel for the America’s Future Series (AFS) 2016 U.S. Global Competitiveness Summit in Dallas on Jan. 28, 2016. The AFS has announced that proceeds from the event will benefit Transformance Inc., formerly Consumer Credit Counseling of Greater Dallas. Both nonprofit organizations teamed up this year to promote financial literacy, leadership and the fostering of self-sustaining communities.

The AFS 2016 U.S. Global Competitiveness Summit is a two-hour benefit event, bringing together prominent leaders and speakers from business, political, technological and social backgrounds to discuss creative solutions for competitiveness in a rapidly changing global economy. The event runs from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, and will be held at the Hotel Intercontinental, located at 15201 Dallas Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75001.

“The 2016 AFS U.S. Global Competitiveness Summit is an opportunity for business and community members to hear serious dialogue, insight and solutions on critical issues facing our economy on a global scale,” said David Hamilton, founder and president of AFS. “We’ve put together a top-flight group of renowned thought leaders to share their insights and lead our discussion panels, which will include subjects such as productivity, innovation, engagement and performance.”

Members of the AFS 2016 Global Competitiveness Summit Host Committee include:

- Chairman: Sec. Gordon England, former Secretary of the Navy
- Jesus Delgado-Jenkins, executive vice president – 7-Eleven, Inc.
- Lt. Gen. Harry Raduege – chairman, Deloitte Center for Cyber Innovation
- Ambassador James K. Glassman – chairman, Public Affairs Engagement, Inc.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Richard MacLaren, president and general manager of Unipart Logistics USA. The closing keynote speaker will be The Honorable Governor Tom Ridge, former Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and current CEO of Ridge Global, an international security and risk management firm headquartered in Washington, D.C.

Panel discussion members include Matthew Rooney, director of economic growth with the George W. Bush Institute; Harold McDowell, CEO of TD Industries; Orlando Carvalho, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin; and Jim Falk, president of the Dallas World Affairs Council. The panel moderator is Lt. Col. Allen West of the National Center for Policy Analysis. The event will be emceed by Scott Murray, formerly of KXAS-TV in Dallas.
