Leah Still and Mother Channing Smythe to Headline Annual Heroes for Children Event

Heroes for Children, a unique nonprofit that provides financial and social assistance to families with children battling cancer, is pleased to announce that Leah Still, daughter of Channing Smythe and NFL star Devon Still, will headline the 12th Annual Heroes & Handbags event on March 31, 2017.

In 2015, at the tender age of 4, Leah was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma stage 4 cancer and given a 50-50 chance to live. She quickly stole the hearts of America as her family publicly shared her fight against cancer on social media. Today Leah has been cancer-free for more than a year and, together with her family, is on a mission to help ease the burdens of a cancer diagnosis for other families with children battling cancer.

“We are honored to have Leah Still and her mother Channing Smythe as our special guests at this year’s Heroes and Handbags event,” said Larissa Linton, executive director and co-founder of Heroes for Children. “Leah has been such an inspiration to us all, and I am thrilled that guests at this year’s event will have the unique opportunity to learn more about her brave battle.”

The annual luxury handbag auction and luncheon chaired by Stacy Kelly, Tracy Rathbun and honorary chair Alison Malone benefits Heroes for Children’s mission to advocate for and provide financial and social assistance to families with children (0 - 22 years of age) battling cancer. More than 500 guests are invited to peruse a silent auction of new, vintage and luxury handbags and accessories followed by a seated brunch. The 12th Annual Heroes & Handbags event will be held March 31 at 9:30 a.m. at The Ritz Carlton, 2121 McKinney Ave., Dallas, TX 75201.
