The DIS Summer Enrichment Camp is a 6-week program that will be offered from June 13 to July 22

Our camps are open to all and designed to provide campers with the opportunity to explore a wide range of activities in a safe and caring environment.

Campers may enroll in a full day or a half day program for any combination of activities they choose. The activities offered include cooking, music, sports, dance, art, math, drama and languages.

Join Breakthrough T1D for the Dallas Walk on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Grandscape in The Colony. This family-friendly event brings together individuals and families of all ages and abilities to support people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D), raise awareness, advance research and move closer to a cure.

The morning begins at 8 a.m. with activities, Resource Row and stage entertainment. The opening ceremony and T1D Champions Parade begin at 9 a.m., followed by the 1.5-mile walk at 9:30 a.m. Light refreshments, activities and family fun continue at 10 a.m.

Participants can take part in a Flag Ceremony celebrating personal connections to T1D, share messages of hope and encouragement on the Community Wall, explore the Pathway to Progress highlighting milestones in T1D research, and see Breakthrough Mile signs honoring local T1D champions.

The walk is led by Event Co-Chairs John Dillon and Sarah Morris. For the Dillon family, the event is personal. Johns youngest daughter, Lauren, was diagnosed with T1D at age 19 during her freshman year of college after being hospitalized with blood sugar levels in the 700s. With no family history of T1D, the family quickly learned the physical, mental and emotional challenges of managing an autoimmune diseaseand discovered a supportive T1D community that helped them navigate the journey.

Today, the Dillon family is deeply involved in the T1D community. Lauren has volunteered and interned with Breakthrough T1D and is pursuing a masters degree in nonprofit leadership, inspired in part by her experience with T1D and her desire to help others. John, his wife Elisha and their family are leading the Dallas Walk in honor of Lauren and alongside the T1D community they have come to know and love.

This family-friendly event brings together thousands of people of all ages and abilities to support those living with type 1 diabetes (T1D), raise awareness and help advance research toward better treatments and a cure.

The morning begins at 8 a.m. with activities, Resource Row and stage entertainment. The opening ceremony and T1D Champions Parade begin at 9 a.m., followed by the 3-mile walk at 9:30 a.m. Light refreshments, activities and family fun continue at 10 a.m.

Breakthrough T1D Dallas Chapter announces the 2026 Breakthrough T1D Dallas Luncheon, One Step Closer, on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 11:30 a.m. at Brook Hollow Golf Club (8301 Harry Hines Blvd, Dallas, TX 75235). Emceed by Karen Borta, CBS news anchor and T1D mom, the luncheon will feature A Candid Conversation with Meredith Coors and her son, Peter Coors II, who was diagnosed with T1D at age 11. The conversation will offer a personal look at living with T1D, the advances that have transformed care and the continued need for research toward better treatments and cures.

Meredith Coors became involved with Breakthrough T1D after Peters diagnosis in 2014. Now a University of Notre Dame graduate, Peter recently moved to the Dallas area and works for Andrews Distributing. Since his diagnosis, Meredith and her husband, Peter, have been dedicated to raising funds for T1D research and a cure. Meredith joined the Mountain West Breakthrough T1D Board in 2017 and chaired the organizations 2018 Colorado Gala. She joined Breakthrough T1Ds Global Mission Board in 2022 and is a member of the Stewardship Ambassador Initiative and Clinical Trial Education Volunteer Committee.

Luncheon Co-Chairs Lisa Singleton and Terry Van Willson, along with Honorary Chairs Tricia and Kenn George, invite the community to join them for this inspiring conversation and to learn more about the progress being made in T1D research and care, as well as the realities of living with the disease.

Nov. 19^th concert, held under the stars in The Stewpot courtyard, will support mission to help those experiencing homelessness and hardship

WHAT

The Stewpot, a Dallas-based mission serving people experiencing hardship or homelessness, will host an intimate evening with Grammy-nominated Americana singer-songwriter Mary Gauthier under the stars in its South Dallas courtyard. The public event will feature live music and an opportunity for neighbors from all walks of life to gather on common ground in support of fellow community members.

WHO

Known for personal, confessional songs including Mercy Now and I Drink, Mary Gauthier brings compassion and honesty to stories of struggle, connection and hope. Her album Rifles & Rosary Beadsearned a Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album, and artists including Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton and Jimmy Buffett have recorded her songs. Her new album Reckoning reflects her patient, private optimism.
