Both Boomers and Millennials feel they lead a healthier lifestyle, according to a study by Aetna. How they reach this conclusion is very different. Baby Boomers define being healthy as getting recommended health screenings or checkups, while Millennials define healthy living as having good eating habits and getting regular exercise. In fact, more than half (52.2%) of Boomers get no regular exercise at all, stated in a study by the University of California. Despite their longer life expectancy over previous generations, U.S. Baby Boomers have higher rates of chronic disease, more disability and lower self-rated health than their parents. This poorer health status supports an increased likelihood of rising health care costs.

Given the link between positive lifestyles and subsequent health in Boomers, there is a clear need for expansion of efforts in prevention and healthy lifestyle promotion. Boomer Fitness Dallas is a valuable resource for information and advice on initiating a wellness program.
