Capital One Bank today announced it is again the sponsor of the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club in Dallas. As part of its sponsorship, the bank will conduct a book drive April 1 through April 30 to collect new books and promote the reading program, which runs June 7 to August 2 and encourages children and teens to read during the summer months.

For more than 40 years, the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club has encouraged children to pick up a book, no matter the size, and read it during the summer. Regular reading has shown not only to sharpen academic but also to inspire curiosity, enhance comprehension and vocabulary, and best of all, put in place the habit for young people to become lifelong readers and learners.

“At Capital One Bank, we believe that the prosperity and progress of our communities, our business and our economy rest in the hearts, minds and hands of young future leaders,” said Kent Eastman, Capital One Bank’s Dallas Market President. “We know that when a child is given a book, the value created is priceless and the potential impact limitless.”

Books can be dropped off at any of the following Dallas-area Capital One Bank locations:

  • Bent Tree
  • Frankford & Marsh
  • Lovers Lane
  • Forest & Josey
  • Forest & Tollway
  • Prestonwood
  • Gaston & Haskell
  • Central & Fitzhugh
  • Wycliff
  • Northcrest
  • Forest & Greenville
  • Timbercreek

“Capital One Bank is committed to Investing for Good in every community we serve, and our support of this program and the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club because of it,” said Eastman. “We encourage people across greater Dallas to participate in the book drive.”
