Have you (and your daughter) ever wanted to paint your own Van Gogh? How can you be sure you’re putting your best foot forward on Facebook and Twitter? Better yet, does your student know the tools to create a positive online reputation? The Explore Summer at ESD program has camps that not only let you express your creativity, but do so in a way that is conducive to you and your student’s own well-being. There is also a self-defense for high school-aged girls that will teach them not only how to defend themselves in times of danger, increase awareness of their surroundings, and boost their self-confidence.

To register for these classes and more, please click here. For more information, please contact Mike Schneider at schneiderm@esdallas.org or at (214) 353-5854. We hope to see you this summer!

  • Digital Branding 101 – Do you want to learn how to set yourself apart from others on the web or how to use a digital portfolio to market yourself for a job or internship? • Fight Like a Girl – Did you know the highest incidence of sexual assault occurs among women between the ages of 14-22? Ensure your daughter is prepared to defend herself in any situation with ESD’s “Fight Like a Girl” self-defense classes. The course will teach high school students how to defend themselves against opponents, what to do if an attacker is armed, and the dangers of date rape. Crime statistics, prevention tips, and the psychology of fear and confidence will also be covered. This class is offered on May 20-23 and June 3-6 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Painting Acrylic Masterpieces – There’s an artist in everyone! Each day will feature a different artist and painting that each participant can take home and showcase in their home. This class is offered August 5–9 from 1-4 p.m.
  • Social Media 101 – Navigating the social media landscape can be overwhelming.
