Aspiring to make a difference in the lives of Dallas-area children and their families, Primrose Schools Franchise Owners Julia and David Shelton will host a grand opening event for local families to celebrate the new Primrose School of Preston Hollow on Saturday, March 21 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Primrose School of Preston Hollow marks the first Primrose school to open inside the loop.

State Rep. Jason Villalba will lead a ribbon-cutting ceremony and give remarks beginning at 10:15 a.m. Additionally, Jo Kirchner, president and CEO of Primrose Schools, and Bill Pierquet, senior vice president of school development, will also attend to officially mark the school’s opening. The celebration will include school tours, refreshments and children’s activities, including face painting and a balloon artist, as well as giveaways and raffle prizes for attendees.

Community Impact

Primrose School of Preston Hollow officially opened its doors to students on Monday, Feb. 23. Ultimately, the 16,000-square-foot, two-story school will add approximately 35 full- and part-time jobs to the community and serve more than 200 local children and families.

As the first Primrose school to open inside the loop of Dallas, Primrose School of Preston Hollow will provide high-quality early education and care for families in Preston Hollow, the Park Cities, Lakewood, Lake Highlands and Uptown – areas that have historically been extremely underserved due to a lack of available land to build schools.

“As an educator, I understand and value the importance of high-quality early education and care,” said Julia. “We’re deeply rooted in the Dallas community and saw the true need to provide a Primrose school inside I-635 to metro Dallas families,” added David.

Real Estate Opportunity
Capitalizing on a unique real estate opportunity, the Sheltons converted an old two-story Chase Bank building built in 1969 into the new Primrose school. The building operated as a bank through the early 2000s before sitting vacant for the last decade.

The redevelopment of this structure and conversion into a two-story school is the latest in a new, urban school model that Primrose is building more of to accommodate the increasing number of families who are seeking high-quality child care within city limits. Primrose continues to seek opportunities to build more urban schools as demand for early education and care increases in urban areas across the country.

“As the urban migration takes places across the U.S., we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to serve families and communities we have previously been unable to reach,” said Bill Pierquet, senior vice president of school development for Primrose Schools. “We’re actively collaborating with brokers, developers and Franchise Owners in major cities like Dallas to help us find the right spaces and land so we can fill the need for high-quality early education and care in these areas.”

School Amenities and Features
Primrose School of Preston Hollow features 12 private classrooms with wireless technology throughout and four secure, age-appropriate playgrounds to accommodate each stage of the children's early development. As part of the Primrose Schools Thumbs Up!®  Enrichment Program, one playground has no equipment, as it is specifically designed for physical development and activity. Children will also develop and refine their fine motor skills through the Primrose Patch – a garden on the school’s property where children participate in monthly gardening and nature study.

Primrose School of Preston Hollow will offer the Primrose exclusive Balanced Learning® curriculum, which blends teacher-guided and child-initiated activities with a special emphasis on character development, for children 6 weeks to 6-years-old. Over the past six years, Primrose Schools has used the Bracken School Readiness Assessment to ensure the effectiveness of its proprietary curriculum. Additionally, as safety is a top priority, the new school will feature the official Primrose Schools Safe School Plan, which provides guidelines to ensure ongoing safety measures are in place and parents and staff members are well prepared for emergencies.

Primrose School of Preston Hollow is located at 10715 Preston Road. To contact Primrose School of Preston Hollow, please call 214-369-7774 or visit www.PrimrosePrestonHollow.com.
