The Episcopal School of Dallas has reached a settlement with a family who sued the school for not protecting their daughter from having a sexual relationship with a teacher and then requiring her to withdraw after the situation was discovered.

The exact amount has not been disclosed because of the settlement agreement, but a jury awarded the family about $9 million last fall after finding the school negligent, and the parties later agreed on lowering that amount to $6 million.

"Both sides are very pleased with the settlement and to have it behind them," said George Bramblett, a lawyer with Haynes & Boone, who led the school's negotiations, according to a report.
